A very contemporary twist on the classic opera La bohème
This year we had the great honour of creating a bespoke commission of stage decor for The English National Opera for their production of Puccini’s La bohème. When we were contacted by the props department to make this bespoke bunting and were so excited to be part of one of the most famous operas ever written. We had less than two weeks to interpret the design brief, produce and deliver the decor and we did it!
The brief was to make 4 strings of oversized laser cut symmetrical shapes to create the illusion of distance across the stage. We were provided vector graphics and the client selected the silk colours from our swatches. We have a huge range of satin and silk colours to choose from. Then we cut the shapes using a 2.4m x 1.2m laser bed. Then the fun part – assembling the shapes in sequence and sewing onto satin ribbon.
Our lovely founder Klare getting stuck in as always.
This was such a fun commission and we are so thrilled to have been asked to be part of it. We can create any flags and bunting from your ideas or sketches and love a challenge!
The play is being shown in a unique drive-in experience until the 27th September 2020. Visit the show page here.
